When I, way back, learned to write websites I was told not to start off the site by saying welcome. So, welcome to my site. I hope you find something useful, interesting, or even funny.
The entire reason for this page's existence is because it's a project. I have a "project system" for myself that I must adhere to, and one of them happened to be a website where I can show off the projects I work on. More information about this site's project can be seen under the completed projects section here.
Projects
I have a very strict system for my projects, which follow a set of rules. They are as follows:
- A project must have a detailed functional specification (spec).
- A spec cannot be changed after a project has been started.
- A project must have a deadline.
- A deadline cannot be changed after a project has been started.
- A project must be completed to spec by the deadline.
- If a project is not completed by the deadline, it must be shelved until a new spec for that project has been written, and at least two other projects have been successfully completed.
- Upon completing a project, a new spec must be written, and a new deadline must be set if work is to be continued on the same project. This will be treated as a new project.
I created this system to "keep the pressure" on when working on my own projects. I came to the realization that when I am at work, I have no problem solving problems and doing tasks, despite the difficulty. However, when I am alone working on private projects it takes just a few days and I stop working on it, either because it is too difficult at the time, or too boring.
Giving up on your personal projects does not a fulfilled being make, and it left me disappointed in myself. So, I decided to make a system where I treat myself as if I am my own client.
I will probably write more about this in the Entries section at a later date.

This area will be for my blog. I thought it would be nice to finally put some thoughts into writing. Nothing yet, so check back later.
Guides
- Caps as Control on TTY
-
Ever wondered how to get your Caps Lock key to work as a Control key while being cool in the TTY? I did, and it took me a long time to figure out. I hope this helps you.
Links
Here are some links to sites and resources I like
{datagubbe}
Personal site and blog of Carl Svensson. There are some interesting
articles on personal computing.
Fastest Code
The page of Alexander Pampuchin, a self proclaimed "compulsive C
programmer and unixhead". Home to my window manager of choice EMWM
(Enhanced Motif Window Manager), other tools, and goodies.
Cool Stuff
I am still not sure what to put here, but it was in the spec.
About
I am never really sure what to say about myself, but let's see if I can't cover the basics. Usually personal websites have something... personal to share, I suppose. I will most likely alter or add to the contents of this section when I find better ways of writing about it. Please be patient with me.
Ever since I first learned that I could type words onto a computer and it would do what I asked of it, I have been fascinated with the possibilities it presented me. But, because of my own inability to follow up on most things, I never got far in my personal ventures.
I started off my adventure by enrolling, and studying computer science, but due to personal issues, I had to drop out after just a year. Not knowing what to do next, I decided to become a marine engineer.
So, I enrolled at the academy, where I learned a little about everything. And I mean everything, from hydraulics, to engine management, to automation, and electrical dimensioning. I tried sailing for a bit, and also worked as a service engineer on some vessels, but ultimately I found that life is too short to spend at sea with the modern version of a sailors life.
Professionally I work as an automation engineer, the industrial kind. In other words, I deal mostly with programming and troubleshooting PLC's (Programmable Logic Controller). These little things are what breathe life into machines mostly used for manufacturing.
I am very passionate about *nix, free and open source software, programming, art, writing, and probably other things I can't think of right now. I'll update this later.
